The Heart that God Revives

Revival... or spiritual resuscitation ... comes not to those with unforgiving, bitter, or proud hearts... but those who take the knowledge of their unforgiving, bitter, or proud heart and turn it into humility. My need for God is every growing. However, I (we) don't have to live in a state of despair, by all means.. we are dead... or dying to this old ugly self. We are not to just die...but LIVE. The cross is for the old man...not for the new man in Christ. That being said, God revives the heart of the humble. If I am not aware of God's complete perfection working through me, then I usually have to become aware of my total need of Him, turn (repent) and step into that knowledge. We minister from the confidence of Christ. ("with the ability with which He supplies..")

It's such sweet realization to step into His mercy every day. To know that I am not able, but He in me, is able. To live because I possess the favor of God. Feeling overwhelmed?...cross over today... Step into his grace through the Jordan (death / humility ) into Resurrection.

Is. 57:15 For thus says the High and Lofty One
Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,
To revive the spirit of the humble,
And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Father You revive the hearts of the humble. You hear us God when we cry. You are every present, ever helpful... ever merciful beloved. I hope because You live today Jesus. Lead us into Your humility that resides in perfect confidence in the Father.

Breakthrough

Sometimes seeking God can be the hardest part of our christian life... especially if our souls have become calloused to His Spirit. Our hearts can become hard through disappointments, loses, or misplaced affections. Many Christians enter in to what they call a "wilderness experience" NOT by divine orchestration. Though the Lord may bring someone through a time of testing, He has not called His church to a wilderness, but a promised land! This promise land is where we abide in our all sufficient God, and join with Him in love for His purposes and kingdom advancement. We live not to gain the favor of God, but FROM the favor of God.

When the weight of our sin or disappointments pile up, it can seem impossible to have a breakthrough with God. But it's not! God dwells just behind the veil. Some of my most wonderful God encounters where when I experienced a breakthrough from a self induced "wilderness." Some quick pointers for breakthrough.

1. Faith. We must believe that God wants us to come through and that He loves us, even in our weakness.
2. Repentance. We must be willing to see ourselves in the true condition of our hearts.
3. Press In. This can seem like the last thing we want to do, when we are overwhelmed... "Pressing in" has to do with setting our hearts / faces to seek God. This can practically look like prayer and fasting...
When we go to God in prayer and find a huge wall... know God wants you through that! Expect the Holy Spirit to show you what that wall is. As soon as He does, allow Him to bring you through. There are spiritual realities of iniquity, unbelief, bitterness, unforgiveness etc... that actually hinder us from experiencing God. The Holy Spirit will always be merciful in allowing us to deal with these issues because He longs for unhindered fellowship.

Jer. 29:13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Father, You are the God of breakthrough. Your love causes us to conquer. Lord triumph over the work of Your hands today. Grant grace love and breakthrough for your sons and daughters. Let FAITH rise up in their hearts to take hold of You. Let your love lead us your people to abide in the Promised land of your love.

"Make Your Way Straight"

Psa. 5:8 Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face.

I was again burdened this morning to be DOING what the father is doing. This has been a prayer of my life, to be the most effective for His kingdom purposes. It is true, that we must "be" before we can accurately judge what we are to be...doing. The tension here, is that I (we) must abide with the Lord in such friendship that we do what He is doing.

The Psalms pray "Establish the work of our hands." (ps 90:17) I'd like to pray in agreement with that this morning.

God of Gods. You know all things. You know our very makeup...our hearts, our desires. God You hear us today. Establish the work of our hands. May we be doing that which brings You Glory. Lord, for those who are stuck today because of bitterness or unbelief, I pray Grace to release them into Your purposes. Father for those who are currently in an ineffective place, God I'm asking that you divinely reposition them for greater effectiveness. You are God. You See all things. Oh bring Your name Glory today. Amen

All Access

The cross was not only for our salvation and redemption, but our reconciliation... that is, being re-united with the Father. Scriptures say when Jesus gave up His spirit upon the cross, the veil in the temple was torn in two. God was saying, "NO LONGER shall I be separated from my people." Much of the church, including myself sometimes, doesn't take advantage of this open access to the Father. Jesus died, so we could have continual fellowship with God. HE is our intercessor...our advocate before the Father.

Some of you may be reading this thinking, this is a bore... "I know this..I grew up in church etc.." But do we take advantage of our access? Imagine if Israel crossed the river Jordan and then set up camp on the other side...and never moved another mile? Many Christians are like this, they have an experience with God that "crosses them over..." and then they sit down.

Lets use our access privileges today and enjoy the Father!

Jer. 29:13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Father draw us after you. Lead us into your holy place. Let faith arise in Your church that You WILL be found by us when we seek You. Release grace and renewed desire to go deep with You. To set aside all the self serving distractions and partake of the promised land of Your Presence. Amen

The Daily Bread of His Presence

Not just a nice thought, inspiring word or addition to our knowledge base.... We need HIM daily. When we read the scriptures...if we are not reading to draw closer to Him, we are just becoming more religious. The pharisees knew the scripture, but didn't know God when He was standing right in front of Him. We must become familiar with the Presence of God...the still small voice....HIM. I don't want to just learn about Him, I want to be with Him. In John 15 the Lord promotes His disciples from servants to friends!

"John 15:14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you."

Friends know what God is saying and doing. Our sanctification is a life of becoming ever more aware of His Presence, thoughts and desires. May we be conformed to His image!

Father, I thank You that "He who began a good work in us will be faithful to complete it." God may we be called Your friends. May out lives be lived to know You and make You known. We don't want to become like the Pharisee's God, who knew about You, but didn't know You. Oh God teach us You. Your Spirit is gentle and willing to yield. Oh let it be in us.

Be filled with Joy today! - Richy

What Are You Thinking?

I recently heard a testimony of a minister who went to Heaven. (take it or leave it...) In Heaven, he moved around by his thoughts. If he wanted to be somewhere, his thoughts lead him there.

This impacted me as profound. Especially in the area of our thought lives.

Prov. 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

Matt. 5:28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Psa. 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, Be acceptable in Your sight...

My prayer has always been that the Lord would dwell strong in the center of my thought life. I've prayed to be like David in the field, who was worshipping when only God was watching. I've understood that victory in the private life will translate in the public. (as well as failure)... But I don't think I've fully grasped how powerful my (our) thoughts are....

Oh Father, I pray today that our thoughts would come into agreement with Yours. Oh that You would be our meditation and continual hope. That we would abide in the place of Your peace. May we dwell upon what is lovely...pure...praiseworthy. Oh God be what I'm thinking about, when my mind stops thinking.... Dwell in us strong oh God. Be our joy today Jesus.

"The Will of My Father"

Matt. 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

Yikes. That should be of concern to me (us). We can be "doing" all sorts of things "for God." Yet, not be doing the will of the Father. I remember several times, where I had this great ministry venture idea...but didn't have the peace of God to carry it out... I'm thankful He led me away from those "opportunities." Other times, I've actually pursued things that were not in His timing and suffered for it. (that is, not having much grace...or fruit) Those times began to teach me (still learning) how to seek out the will of the Father, and be assured of His leading before pursuing anything "for the Kingdom."

Knowing and doing the "will of the father" requires us to have an intimate relationship with Him. Jesus said, "John 15:14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. "

The friends of God know what He is doing.

Father may we truly know You. May our hands be doing what You are doing. Father re-arrange our lives that we might be called friends of God. Root out, pull down, take away that which will not remain. Let my daily labor be as sweet devotion to You for Your kingdom purposes. Amen

Treasures

Better than Apple, INC, Oil, or your 401k plan... put all your investments into the Kingdom. His Kingdom will always increase and will have no end! "Investments" would include our heart, time, money and energy's... A prayer I've made with my life is, "God I want to labor for that which remains." "I don't want to work for money God, I want to serve your kingdom." We can actually have a non-direct ministry occupation and be living to build the kingdom! "A lover outworks a worker." What if you worked for love? "Because I love God...I'm going to do my job with excellence...as unto Him.. etc."

Matt. 6:19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Father, Give us your heart today... may we live and give our soul and love to that which remains. Transform our hearts into your heart...that we might feel what You feel. That we might share in your perfect burdens Christ.
