Do You Have Bread to Give?

In Luke 11, Jesus tells the story of the traveler (lost people) who comes at midnight asking for some bread.. The person of the house (us the church) has no bread to give him and goes to his friend (God) asking to borrow some bread...at midnight! Because of his persistence, the friend (God) gives him some bread.

Most of us christians will try to answer the cry of the lost for bread with stale old bread, or no bread at all. But, the bread that they need only comes from God. This bread is received through persistent, consistent prayer! Jesus has us pray... "Give us today our daily bread." This bread is not just for You, but for others!

The lost do not always come at a convenient time.

Seek the Lord today for His bread. Develop a deeper appetite for His fellowship! Be ready to give out the bread you receive!

Here is the context for those interested. Many Blessings today! - Richy

Luke 11:5 And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within and say, “Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? 8 I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

Greater Riches

Hebrews speaks of Moses...
Heb 11:25 ...choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.

Moses forsook the passing pleasures of this word for the GREATER RICHES in Christ!
Much attention is given in the church of all the things we must forsake, but most christians live without knowing the "greater riches" "Just grit your teeth until the Lord returns... then I won't sin anymore." ... is much of the thinking. We're not made to just take up our cross in self denial, but to exchange pleasure for pleasure. For greater pleasure of being in love covenant with God.. of having all your needs met in a person, Christ. The greater pleasure of communion with God. The pleasure of a pure conscience! The pleasure of His love moving through You. Oh having God live strong inside You! Of living with an eternal understanding! ...of having a word change your person!

Don't live in the desert! We were called into the promised land of His fellowship!

God lead us into the greater riches of fellowship with You. Deepen our hunger for You.. Let us live to partake of YOUR pleasures! Amen

House of Prayer

Is. 56:7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices, Will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

The prayer meeting is usually the least popular meeting in our American churches. Mainly because the prayer meeting has little (on the surface) to do with us! We're not getting spoon fed, pre chewed truth. Were not getting a "pick me up" for the week. The prayer meeting has everything to do with giving ourselves for God and others. If God were more popular with His people, the prayer meetings would be packed. ...But instead we are drunk with entertainment and self pleasure. How will a church like this survive in the end times? Most think we won't have to.. we just get whisked a way before anything bad happens. I'm telling you, God's coming back for a people that know Him... for a people who know His voice. For a "pure and spotless bride..." not the brides little sister.

God break us through our self serving mentalities... may we be given over in love for Your service Jesus. May we learn to wait for you.. As you say that we would "Watch and Pray" Oh God make us Your house of prayer! Amen

What About the Burdens of His Heart?

Most of us believers consider ourselves friends and servants of God, but how much time do we spend seeking the things that are on HIS heart? Did you know Jesus has burdens? Most of my prayer life has been asking for help etc... This is good. Better than self sufficiency. However, I want to take on the things that are on His heart. I want my heart to be like His. This requires me to wait upon Him, to seek Him out, to spend time asking for His burdens etc...

This is what Jesus meant when He said, "Matt. 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

Imagine giving all your efforts and energies and attention to seeking first God's Kingdom. I'm not talking about just giving to missions etc.. but truly pursuing His heart. Seek first, and God takes care of the rest. It's much more difficult to seek all kinds of things and add "the Kingdom" to that list. But just seek one thing, and everything else will be added!

What about the burdens of His heart today? Have you asked Him? Have you sought Him? Doing what's on His heart is all thats going to matter in the end.

Father forgive us where we have been so self absorbed. Lord, what about Your desire to save lives? What about Your heart for freedom and justice? God let there be a divine exchange, our desires for Yours, our hearts for Your, our dreams for Yours. Oh lead us into this way of everlasting. Amen

Where is the Fascination with God?

I have personally been going through a re-fascination with God, in glimpses of Him that I've not had before. This is coming through His word, and meditation upon it / HIM. Last night I spent some time checking out interesting movie trailers on the internet..seeing if there is anything out there, I'd be interested in taking my wife to. After two hours of checking out the industry, I opened a book I had been reading by Mike Bickle. One of the first lines I read stated something to the effect of... "our over entertaining of ourselves can dull our senses to fascination with God." I don't want to lose my fascination with Him, I want it to increase.

We become like that, with which we behold! I want my face to always be seeking Him.

Phil. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Father Draw us into a greater fascination of the person Jesus Christ. Lead us into this realm of beholding Your Glory and being changed.

Speechless

Not sure what to write today. I'm in awe of His goodness. I'm in awe how God can restore the wasted years. I'm in awe of how His promises do not fall to the ground. I'm in awe of His faithfulness.. oh His perfection in His dealings with us. He truly does remember His promises. Plus, My daughter had her 1 year old birthday yesterday. I'm so thankful for His goodness to us! The rains have come! The rain is here! He washes and makes all things new!

Be encouraged today! - Richy

Becoming Like Christ Through Prayer

In case you haven't figured it out... we are not basically good! That is, apart from Christ. Even when we come to Christ, we have a ways to go in becoming like Christ. We are saved, and we are being saved! I have found in my early walk with God, that I would have these huge breakthroughs of experiencing God's heart, and then run with that for a season. However, God desires that we daily walk with His heart! When I drift from an intimate relationship with Jesus, my heart begins to regress back to that cold, self-centered soul I was before Christ. This is why Jesus has us pray in Matt. 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread. We need to get our spiritual sustenance from a continual abiding with Him.

...THIS LIFE IS DEVELOPED THROUGH CONTINUAL, INTENTIONAL PRAYER! The flesh hates prayer! The spirit life grows in prayer!

Make a decision today to begin the prayer life you've dreamed of! Get to know the vastness of our God! Become a friend of God!

"God, tonight I'm not going to go out with my friends, I'm going to spend 4 hours in my closet." "Kids, tonight we are not going to watch T.V. were going to pray and worship together as a family."

God increase our hunger for You! Let us know the greatness we are called to in You! Lord bring us in!

Knowing THE Word

Our minds are not just renewed by reading His word but receiving His word in our spirits! I can read and memorize scripture, and it not make me more "spiritual." Satan new the scriptures... The Pharisee’s knew the scriptures, and they didn't recognize the living scriptures when He was standing right in front of them... In fact they crucified that very word they allegedly knew so well!

So how do we avoid just becoming more knowledgeable and religious!? We read to encounter Him... To let the words change our spirit. We read to be changed into His likeness. ...to be with Jesus. This means I may not always get make certain number of chapters in a day... because the Holy Spirit may be on one verse! There is a treasure there to be found! Our walk with God...its just that... a RELATIONSHIP! Jesus said many people will do a lot of things "for Me," but the father will have never known them... The result of not being known by God is eternal separation. My prayer is that I would be clothed with the feelings of His heart. ..That I would know Him intimately and be doing what He is doing... because I'm His friend, and He is mine!

Father, I ask for renewed hunger in us Your people to not just know about You, but to know You. Oh Lord You are merciful and kind.. Let that kindness lead us into an intimate fellowship with You. Lord break every religious barrier that keeps us from the still small voice of the Holy Spirit. Let grace flood the heart of the reader today...

"...In the Way You Should Go"

I'd like to think that many of my major life directional..changes were a result of my keen discernment of the will of the Lord... but in reality, I was like a horse that was bridled... God led me here. I was actually meditating on this, and thanking God this morning, and opened to Psalms 32 and discovered here was the context!

Ps 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you.

I don't want to always obey God because of the bridle. But thank God that He will be persistent with us at times. (Yet somehow gentle and not demanding!)

Father, I pray for those who are being prompted by the Holy Spirit to make a sacrifice in their lives... God give them grace, You lead well oh God! You lead perfect beloved Jesus. Let us move from servants to friends...were we press out ahead in seeking Your will and purposes. May we be friends because we "know what the Master is doing."

"Will You Join In My Sufferings?

The Lord asked me this the other day, while worshipping on the piano. (see title...) I must say at first, I felt disturbed, somewhat fearful of what that meant. I continued worshipping again, and that heaviness lifted. The next day (yesterday) I was spending some time in extended prayer and that feeling / question came upon me again "Will you join in my sufferings?" This time, I wasn't going to attempt to get out of that... I prayed into it. What the Lord brought me through was a renewed willingness to do whatever He was asking of me, and a renewed desire to carry the burdens of His heart.

Paul the Apostle prayed in Phil. 3:10, "that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death..."

The fellowship of His suffering is not (necessarily) physical suffering only, (though many christians have and will go through that, for the gospel) but also the joining in the Lords burdens. To take up my cross, is to deny my carnal self preservation, and give myself over to the Lord in friendship. ...That I would seek out diligently and carry His heart. That my prayers would not be filled with request revolving around ...myself, but that which is on His heart. ...Trusting that if I "seek first His kingdom," then all things would be added unto me.

Father give us Your heart today. May we be those who will wait with you 1 hour... May we be those who will bring comfort to Your heart in contending with that which You contend. Transform us, may we go through this death, burial and.... resurrection. Thank You Jesus for grace and love that brings us through the cross. Amen

My Expectation is From Him...Waiting

Ps 62:5 5 My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.

I don't like waiting for a 2 minute microwave burrito! So waiting for God was not something I easily grasped ...until all my efforts came to nothing. My prayer has become to be doing what the Father is doing. This requires me (us) to "wait" upon Him. "Waiting" is not an idle, passive approach to God, but having our hearts / expectations upon Him.

I heard a story recently of a man who was waiting for his wife at the airport to return from a long trip. The flight was delayed a few hours, then a day, then 4 days. After 4 days his wife finally arrived and they enjoyed a long awaited embrace. The question was presented, was it love when they embraced or during his waiting? The answer is both. Our waiting upon God is love.

We look not to man to satisfy the longing of our hearts, but our "expectation" is from Him. God meets every longing of the human heart. Our capacity to love increases as we become secure in the love of God for us. Look to Him today, Let your expectation be of Him!

Father, for those who are longing inside for a breakthrough, give them grace to wait. May our eyes look to You alone for deliverance, favor, purpose... and not to man. You are our strength and our hope. I wait upon You God. I hope because You live.

The Prayers of God's Heart / Righteousness and Justice

A few months ago, I was praying out on my porch looking at the trees. I had just spent some time crying out to the Lord, and felt a very tangible presence of God all over me. Sometimes, in these moments I like to ask God a question. While looking and enjoying the trees around me I asked God, "Are You an environmentalist?" I felt a clear answer that came as a foreign thought in my heart / mind, "I'm an environmentalist and a philantropist, but righteousness and justice are the foundation of my throne." (ps 89:14)

Woah. I set back and had to meditate on that a while. I'm still in the process of grasping God's heart for justice and righteousness, but I'm willing to let my heart began to be formed into His. Righteousness and Justice are "trump" issues on God's heart, there are the very foundation of His reign. Powerful prayers are those that are on God's heart. We need a renewal of the mind to truly declare what is on God's heart. ("agenda" as well)

Rom. 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Father Give us your heart today. Let our minds be conformed to yours. You have a cry to bring justice to our land. You desire all men to be saved. Oh God let my heart reflect Yours. Conform me into Your image! I am Yours, save me!

Removing Mixture

Months ago I opened to the scripture in Jeremiah 15:19 "If you take out the precious from the vile, You shall be as My mouth.." This awakened a renewed desire in my life for Holiness. Not the "holiness" that is filled with do's and don'ts that give "saints" a greater sense of self righteousness above others, but a Holiness birthed with passion to be close to God. The fruit of this holiness is love and gentleness... really... simply Christ likeness.

Ps 24:3 3 "Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?, Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart,Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol..."

Holiness is about access to God, who is Holy. By the cross, we have access to the Holy Spirit who makes us Holy. There is an initial "Holiness" that takes place when we accept Jesus. (this is called justification) ..And there is the process where the Holy Spirit is making us holy. (Sanctification) The reason God wants us holy is so that we might have unhindered fellowship with Him. He is Holy, and only that which is Holy abides in His presence.

Father make us Holy. We agree with Your work in our lives. We want to be Holy because we want You! Thank You for Your grace that leads us to You.
